Stockpiling Solutions for Bulk Materials

Build larger, cleaner and safer stockpiles while eliminating loader shuffling with mobile stacking equipment.

Stockpiling Solutions for Bulk Materials

Stockpiling is where mobile conveyors deliver the clearest payback: a tracked radial stacker or radial telescopic stockpiler builds uniform piles at low cost per ton, frees loaders for other work and reduces segregation and dust.

The Stockpiling Challenge

Conventional loaders and shovels build stockpiles slowly, compact the material, create steep faces and tie up expensive machines. Limited stacking height and reach also waste yard space and increase re-handling.

Mobile stacking solves this by conveying material directly to the pile, so pile shape, height and placement are controlled by the conveyor rather than by vehicle maneuvering.

The core of a SANTO stockpile is the tracked radial stacker, which slews through a wide arc to form circular piles without repositioning. For maximum reach and a continuous, low-segregation pile, the radial telescopic stockpiler adds a telescoping boom.

Feeder stackers such as the feeder track stacker accept loadout directly from trucks or crushers, while grasshopper conveyors extend the discharge point across long yards without fixed structures.

  • Tracked radial stacker — slewing discharge for circular stockpiles.
  • Radial telescopic stockpiler — telescoping boom for extended reach.
  • Feeder track stacker / feeder mobile stacker — truck or crusher-fed stacking.
  • Grasshopper conveyors — modular extension of the discharge line.

Layout & Workflow

A typical line feeds the stacker from a mobile conveyor or crusher outlet; the stacker then slews and luffs to build the pile layer by layer. Telescopic booms retract as the pile grows to keep the drop height — and therefore dust and degradation — low.

Because the machines are mobile, the same stacker serves multiple piles or moves to a new cell as the yard plan changes, avoiding fixed civil works.

Planning & ROI Tips

Size belt width and length to your peak t/h (100–1500 t/h range) and to the stockyard radius you must cover; choose telescopic reach for sites where a single machine must serve several piles.

Stacking height up to 15 m multiplies usable yard area versus loader-built piles. Track the reduction in loader hours and fuel as the main ROI driver, and plan spare belts and idlers through the spare-parts program to avoid downtime.

Frequently Asked Questions

What equipment is best for building stockpiles?

A tracked radial stacker or radial telescopic stockpiler builds uniform, high piles at low cost per ton; feeder stackers accept truck or crusher feed and grasshopper conveyors extend discharge across the yard.

How high can SANTO stockpilers stack?

SANTO mobile stackers handle stacking heights up to about 15 m, with belt widths 500–1600 mm and capacities from 100 to 1500 t/h depending on model and options.

Why use a radial telescopic stacker instead of a fixed conveyor?

A telescopic boom keeps drop height low to reduce dust and segregation, and radial slewing lets one machine build several piles without fixed civil structures or repositioning.
